Why Choose Us?
First Rate Training Programme
As an accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training and a designated Teaching School Hub, we are able to provide you with a first rate professional training experience. All of our placement schools have significant experience in delivering Initial Teacher Training and are able to provide you with a consistently high quality setting throughout your training period.
GLF Project Research Scholarship
Our unique, newly launched GLF Project Research Scholarship awards selected candidates with the opportunity to conduct a fully funded research project, helping to Empower, Enable and Educate trainees further throughout the programme and within their teaching career.
Excellent Employment Opportunities
There are often opportunities for successful trainees to go on and work within their host school or group of schools following a successful training year. However, this is subject to schools' recruitment and selection process.
A Sound Induction Programme
In order to help you prepare for the year ahead you will be invited to attend an Induction Programme in June for one week. This is a great opportunity to bond with your fellow trainees
and to share your ideas and experience with them.
High Quality Mentoring
Trainees will have access to a mentor with subject/phase specific expertise as well as knowledge and confidence in evidence based approaches to teaching. Mentors will provide input and guidance on the best evidenced ways of teaching their subject and phase. They will also offer personalised support and feedback on current areas of focus for teaching, reflecting on sequential and cumulative of the curriculum. You will meet with your mentor on a weekly basis, setting short and long term targets, reviewing your progress.
Alliance Based Training
Your training pathway will follow a bespoke and carefully devised Professional Studies Programme, delivered by our very best practitioners, one day per week. Training sessions take the form of seminars, lectures or workshops and focus on the development of both subject knowledge and pedagogical expertise. Placement schools also offer a professional development programme which you will be able to access when in school, to further support your development.
Contrast Between Host And Second Placement Schools
As we have partnerships within a diverse range of both secondary and primary schools,
we can offer you the chance to train within contrasting settings, thus greatly enhancing your training experience.
Networking And Cross School Development Opportunities
Working within a successful partnership of schools means that you will be provided with opportunities to share good practice and visit other schools, thus benefitting from the expertise
of a wide range of highly skilled professionals.
