GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses

For some secondary subjects, you can take a government sponsored Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course.

SKE courses are usually for shortage subjects and can be taken online, in a range of lengths from 8 weeks to 28 weeks (depending on the subject); part-time study options are available. Tax free training bursaries may also be available.  

SKE courses are a great way to prepare you for initial teacher training by helping you gain the depth of subject knowledge and skills that you will need to help you teach your chosen subject.
We, therefore, recommend that all our trainees applying to teach a shortage subject, complete an SKE course.  

SKE courses are available at universities, schools or other organisations. You are free to use any suitable provider but we have worked with, and recommend the following:
