Primary Teacher Training (5-11)
Following the Government announcement on the 12th October 2021, we can confirm that there is no funding to support the salaried primary route for 2022/23. School Direct primary trainees are employed as an unqualified teachers and paid a salary by the school in which they train, in line with the unqualified teacher pay ranges. Trainees do not need to pay fees to cover the cost of the programme but if taking the PGCE option, trainees are responsible for the £2,000 fees. Places on this programme will be subject to availability and vacancies within individual schools and will be advertised as and when they become available.
There are no bursaries available for primary trainee teachers on the fee funded route. Trainees can opt to either self-finance the course, or apply for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan.
