Primary Teacher Training (5-11)

Avaliability to train via the School Direct salaried route will be subject to the government funding for 2022/23 and we are awaiting confirmation of this.  If this route if offered, School Direct primary trainees are employed as an unqualified teachers and paid a salary by the school in which they train, in line with the unqualified teacher pay ranges. Trainees do not need to pay fees to cover the cost of the programme but if taking the PGCE option, trainees are responsible for the £2,000 fees.

There are no bursaries available for primary trainee teachers on the fee funded route. Trainees can opt to either self-finance the course, or apply for a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan.
